Anand wins 2 major events on successive
Sundays!
India's chess ace Viswanathan Anand created a sporting records
of sorts . Winning two of the strongest classical and rapid events
in the chess circuit on two consecutive sundays.
If in 2003 Anand won his chess Oscar for his exemplary perfromance
in rapid chess. Anand this year has silenced critics on that front
by winning two of the strongest classical events Corus and Dortmund.
For Anand winning Dortmund was especially important after his disastrous
career worst in 2001. At the chess classic in Mainz, Anand has won
four black jackets in a row. In total winning the Chess Classic
7 times with only a break in 99.
With these recent victories Anand clearly has earned the Most succesful
active player from fellow colleagues like Shirov .
Anand's will play an event in Sao Paolo soon to mark the city's
450 anniversary. (Of course after a short holiday in Rio. Anand
will also be in India the whole month of September. His next big
commitment will be the Olympiad where for the first time he captains
an All Grandmaster team.
