Parthiva Sureshwaren, India's 20 year old sensation in International Motorsport is now taking a big leap forward in his International motor racing career. Parthiva, under the management of Akbar Ebrahim has signed a contract with ME Motorsports, UK, to drive the Formula 3(Scholarship Class) Championship. After having finished second overall in the last year’s Formula Asia Championship and earning the title “THE FASTEST INDIAN IN ASIA”, this youngster is now ready to take the next big step.
The British Formula 3 Scholarship Class is run with 1998 specification Formula 3 cars and the Championship is run concurrently, ( in the same race) as the Formula 3 Class A race. The idea of signing Parthiva for the Formula 3 Scholarship Class is two fold:. 1. The budget of the Scholarship Class is half the budget of the F3 Class A. 2. Parthiva will have the opportunity to study the tracks, the car, the variable weather conditions etc. to be fully ready and prepared to become a Championship contender for the F3 Class A Championship in the year 2002.
ME Motorsports, the team that Parthiva is racing for, has a long-standing history in Formula 3, Formula Renault, Vauxhall Lotus and Formula Ford. Parthiva's Chief Engineer will be Patrick Roberts, who was his Chief Engineer last year in Formula Asia and also the former Chief Engineer for Narain Karthikeyan and Akbar Ebrahim, The car that Parthiva will be racing is a Dallara 1998 spec. with a Mugen Honda engine. These cars develop close to 230 bbp and touch speeds close to 270 kmph.
